Screen & Scan: Your Ultimate Stock Filtering Spreadsheet πŸ“Š

Image of the actual spreadsheet

If you're looking for a simple and easy-to-use stock screener or scanner, you've come to the right place! Though they might be called different names, both tools share the same objective: to filter a list of stocks based on one or multiple criteria.

What's the Difference? πŸ€”

Imagine you have a list of 100 stocks in no particular order and want to find the top 20 based on their trading price. A screener and a scanner will provide you with this list of 20 stocks. However, the scanner will go a step further and rank them for you.

Introducing My Spreadsheet πŸ“ˆ

I made this spreadsheet that can function as both a scanner and a screener. This tool allows you to input your stock database and filter the data based on criteria such as as volume and price. Here’s how you can use it:

  1. Input Your Stock Data: In the β€œstocks_db” sheet, enter the ticker name or symbol. If the ticker already exists, it will be highlighted with a red background color to avoid duplicates.

  2. View the Report: The second sheet, labeled β€œreport,” contains three sections where stocks are filtered and ranked based on different criteria:

    • The highest 100 stocks based on trading volume πŸ“ˆ.

    • The highest 100 stocks based on trading price πŸ’°.

    • The lowest 100 stocks based on trading price πŸ“‰.

Important Reminder 🚨

It's essential to remember that the screener or scanner is not providing buy or sell recommendations. They are simply tools to help you filter and rank stocks based on your chosen parameters.

Side Tip πŸ’‘

On a lighter note, you don't commit to the first person who checks any items on your boxes, so treat stock picking with the same caution!

Expanding the Tool 🌐

If you're interested in expanding this tool or using different criteria, you can learn how to fetch current or historical securities information from Google Finance.

I've made this spreadsheet as an alternative to subscription or paid plan options available.
